Fall 2016 Move-In

Residence Life and Campus Housing are busy preparing for move-in weekend in August. You're invited to participate! The College is in need of faculty, staff, students, student organizations, and community organizations to act as volunteers to help residential students and their families move-in to their residence halls and houses.

Volunteer opportunities are available during Saturday August 20 and Sunday August 21 of move-in. Move-in times will be tiered by floors of each building to avoid back up. Move-in is scheduled on the following days: August 20: 9am to 1pm and August 21: 1pm to 5pm. Volunteers are needed for both days and multiple shifts.

Volunteer shirts will be provided so volunteers can be easily recognized by students and families. In addition to the volunteer t-shirt, it is recommended that volunteers wear pants/skirts/shorts, comfortable shoes, sunblock, a hat and sunglasses.

Volunteers will be responsible for helping students move their belongings into their rooms. Move-in volunteers will also greet students and families, help unload vehicles, answer questions and provide support as needed. Volunteers should only carry what they can personally handle. Volunteers need to check in at assigned buildings 15 minutes before the start of their shift.

To register as a volunteer with OPTA, please sign up to attend this event by Friday, July 15th, 2016, so that members of our organization can sign up together on only 1 form. Then either comment to this event or email collinsjk@g.cofc.edu the following information: name, class year, t-shirt size, and available times for volunteer shifts.
