Camp Invention

CCS is partnering with the National Inventors Hall of Fame to provide Camp Invention, a unique out-of-school-time elementary enrichment experience with a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) focus for children in our community, July 17-21.

Camp Invention gives children the opportunity to take risks, use creative problem solving, and develop an entrepreneurial mindset in fun and challenging ways. During this week-long adventure, children entering grades K-6 will design and build their own inventions, take apart gadgets, be a part of a team, and have FUN!

Local, certified educators lead a week of hands-on activities that fuel children’s confidence in their natural ability to dream and create. Team member-to-child ratios for this program are 1:8, and the size of the program runs between 35 and 120 participants.

In the Create program, children will participate in four fun-filled modules each day:

Problem Solving on Planet ZAK®
Children crash land on Planet ZAK and have to use creative problem solving to build shelters, analyze weather data, and create a rocket ship to travel back home.

Saving Sludge City™
Pollution has destroyed Sludge City and campers are challenged to create a water filter, reengineer the town’s infrastructure, and design clean transportation!

I Can Invent™
Your child will use reverse engineering by taking apart appliances and non-working devices to look for interesting parts to use in a new invention! We call this process upcycling; it’s featured in our curriculum every year because it’s a fun, hands-on way for campers to explore reverse engineering and design thinking!

Imagination Point: Ride Physics™
The largest amusement park in America needs teams to be design interns and create a new roller coaster! Campers will use Newton’s Laws of Motion to create a looping, swooping, thrilling coaster for the bravest thrill seekers.
